Should animals be used to develop medicines and treatments for humans?

This activity confronts students with one of the most fundamental questions of all - should we use animals in research and testing for the benefit of human health? It takes them through the facts about the law, how many animals are used, and why and how they are used. It poses the sorts of complex ethical questions scientists deal with every day, and asks them to look at alternatives, before deciding where they stand.
