Extension activities
Ask the students to research what, if any, animal welfare issues each pet below might face:
- a pet animal kept to scare or harm people or other animals, for example a watchdog or hunting dog
- a pet bred to win shows
- an unusual or non-domestic (exotic) pet, such as a snake or lizard
- an animal that’s used to make the owner look tough
- a pet that’s used for breeding to make money for the owner
- a pet bought on impulse
- a pet given to someone as a present.
